Ever wonder what can be done with invasive species once they’ve been removed from native ecosystems? On November 2nd longtime basket weaver Maria Curtis will be giving us one brilliant idea for them!
In a small group environment, participants of the workshop will be guided in creating a unique basket using traditional weaving techniques with local natural materials including invasive bog iris leaves and broom that were gathered from Somenos Marsh. All levels of experience are welcome. Tools, materials and written instructions will be provided. Maria Curtis has been involved in basket making for 18 years and has developed an eclectic knowledge of the art.
The workshop will run from 9:30 am – 3:30 pm and will be held at the Cowichan Green Community Board Room (generous supporters of WildWings Festival!)
The cost is $75.00 per person. Please pre-register using the following contact information.
